The County of St. Clair seeks an At-Risk Youth Worker to supervise youth and support custodial safety within a Behavioral Management setting. You will model professional conduct, enforce rules, and provide positive and negative reinforcements as needed.

You will collaborate with educational and clinical staff to support schooling, document progress, and respond to emergencies. A high school diploma (GED acceptable) and experience with at-risk youth are preferred for this role.

Formación

• Graduation from an accredited high school (GED acceptable) supplemented by college coursework in Child Development, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a closely related field required.
• Associates degree with a major in Child Development, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a closely related field preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of responsible work experience required; experience working with at-risk or delinquent youth preferred.
• An equivalent combination of relevant professional work experience supplemented by technical training, and/or certification may substitute for education requirement.
• Ability to remain calm and appropriately manage emergencies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook; exercise sound judgment and decision making; ability to research and problem solve independently.

Responsabilidades

• Closely supervise youth of the DTNW Program to ensure safety and order.
• Provides leadership, observes, confronts, and redirects youth behavior within a Behavioral Management setting.
• Assists educational provider with schooling and school activities as needed.
• Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect of youth.
• Assist the clinical provider to provide emotional supports to youth.
• Prepare reports and documents on youth progress for agencies.
• Oversee, referee and supervise recreational activities.
• Intervene in crisis situations and follow policy for physical restraint and management.
• Transport youth to/from home, court appointments, etc.
• Maintain and enforce DTNW policies, rules, and regulations.
