Job summary

The Wilmette Park District is seeking a Youth Basketball Scorekeeper to accurately record scores and manage game time for youth games. This part-time role collaborates with officials and staff to ensure smooth operation and adherence to park district rules.

Duties include setting up the scorer’s table, reporting safety concerns, and handling paperwork in a timely manner. Candidates must be at least 16, able to communicate rules clearly, and maintain composure during high-pressure situations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to articulate age-specific basketball rules to participants, coaches, and parents/guardians.
• CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring.
• Remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the game area before play by setting up the scorer’s table, chairs, scorebook, scoreboard, and designated seating areas as needed.
• Before games begin, inspect the court and surrounding areas and report or address safety concerns.
• Complete and submit all required timesheets, game results, and other paperwork to the Athletic Department within the required timeframe.
• After games, return scorekeeping equipment and other materials to their proper locations and help keep the gym, bleachers, and spectator areas clean and organized.
• Interact positively with youth, coaches, parents/guardians, and team members.
