Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking an instructor to plan and implement engaging age-appropriate music and art classes for youth at the North Suburban YMCA. The role emphasizes a safe, warm, interactive learning environment and active collaboration with families and staff.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of arts/movement instruction for children and is certified in First Aid and CPR within the first six months. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience instructing children in arts or movement.
• First Aid and CPR certified within the first 6 months of employment.
• Excellent skills in working with families, conflict resolution, and community relations.
• Knowledge of group processes with the ability to contribute to a positive team dynamic.
• Commitment to the philosophy and goals of the YMCA.
• Effective leadership skills and crisis management skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create age-appropriate music lessons that engage the group of children.
• Create a curriculum incorporating a variety of songs, finger plays, dancing, simple instruments, arts & crafts, and other instructional material/resources.
• Take a playful and active approach to capture the attention of the children.
• Must attend staff meetings and required trainings.
• Notify supervisor of any problems that arise.
• Perform other duties as designated by the supervisors.
• Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures and collaborate with staff.
