Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) seeks a Youth Art Instructor at Garfield Community Center in Seattle. This part-time role leads weekly art projects, teaches youth in a fun, inclusive setting, and builds confidence through creative activities.

The position runs Wednesdays, 4:00pm–7:00pm year‑round, with responsibilities including planning lessons, preparing materials, and maintaining a safe, engaging classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching art in recreational, educational, or community settings.
• Experience working with children.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work independently and reliably.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead age-appropriate weekly art activities for youth.
• Create a safe, inclusive, supportive learning environment.
• Prepare lesson plans, materials, and classroom setup/cleanup.
• Adapt instruction to varying skill levels and needs.
• Supervise participants and maintain positive group dynamics.
• Communicate professionally with ARC staff and site supervisors.
