Job summary

Goddard Riverside Community Center is seeking Activity Specialists for the Beacon Community Centers program in Beacon, NY. You will work with a group of children in various activity areas (Art, Coding, Dance, Drama, Games/Sports, Music, Storytelling) to support social-emotional growth and creative expression.

Schedule is 2-4 days a week, September 1, 2026 through May 28, 2027, 3:30pm-6:00pm, 5-12 hours per week. Hourly rate is $25.00/hr with a focus on safety, teamwork, and positive engagement.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least two years of experience working with children in groups.
• Some college preferred.
• Ability to lead activities and work collaboratively.
• Must have a sense of humor and a passion for youth development.
• Must be able to pass a Background Check including Fingerprint Screen.

Responsibilities

• Foster a learning environment that stimulates children’s creative growth and development.
• Demonstrate professionalism and leadership and collaborate with different teams.
• Maintain sound supervision and ensure participant safety.
• Incorporate the theme into various projects.
• Deliver educational, recreational, and cultural programs to develop community and explore the school year theme through a project.
• Encourage program participation and social skills development.
• Teach and supervise activity in given field.
• Fulfill administrative requirements (calendars, schedules, attendance, incident reports).
• Enforce program rules and address behavioral issues.
• Know and enforce emergency procedures and safety guidelines.
• Attend staff training and meetings.
