Job summary

Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City is seeking a Youth Activities Counselor to oversee family-friendly events and programs, supervise children, and ensure a safe, engaging environment.

You will assist with pool events, camps and holiday celebrations, handle sign-in/out, coordinate with parents, and work with the Youth Activities Director to maintain high standards.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications and office equipment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests and staff.
• Excellent communication skills including verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and guests professionally and friendly.
• Host and engage children and families in activities and events.
• Assist with setup, decorations and safety checks for events.
• Manage sign-in/sign-out processes and ID verification for children.
• Ensure safety and supervision of youth in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the play areas and playroom.
• Communicate openly with supervisors about unforeseen circumstances.
• Perform other duties as assigned by managers.

Job description

Position Objective

The Youth Activities Counselor is responsible for all activities related to youth activities at the club including but not limited to assist in creating, implementing, and overseeing family friendly events and youth programs, set-up, clean up, and supervising younger members in a safe and friendly way.

Youth Activities.

FLSA Status:

Non-exempt.

Reports To:

Youth Activities Director.

Position Functions And Duties

• Greet members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
• Respond to member questions by providing correct information and answering telephone in professional manner.
• Assist with set-up, decorations, and safety checks before events.
• Host and engage children and families in activities, including pool activities, events, camps, and holiday events.
• Assist parents signing their children in and out and checking identification.
• Be knowledgeable of and comply, at all times, with the Club’s standards, policies and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
• Ensure knowledge of all children’s allergies and special needs.
• Supervise children and use good judgement when in our care. Adhere to all rules regarding younger members.
• Assist with handling kids’ meals.
• Communicate effectively and inform immediate supervisors of any unforeseen circumstances and react appropriately.
• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and secure locking of children’s playroom.
• Perform other duties as assigned by managers.

Education/Experience/Skills

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Must possess CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, and use of office equipment.
• Must have knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.
• Must possess excellent communication skills including strong verbal, written and positive interpersonal skills.
• Ability to project voice and get attention of and cooperation from young members.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
• Must work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.
• Ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.

Typical Working Conditions

Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor setting, busy and noisy environment. Some varied weather conditions are expected with exposure to heat/humidity, or cool/cold weather. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
