Job summary

Northgate Country Club in Houston, TX seeks a Youth Activities Counselor to lead and supervise youth programs, camps, and events. You will help plan, set up, run pool activities, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for children and their families.

The role requires CPR/First Aid certification, excellent communication, and the ability to work flexible weekends and holidays. You will partner with staff to maintain safety, cleanliness, and positive experiences for all members.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, and use of office equipment.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.
  • Excellent communication skills including strong verbal, written and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to project voice and get attention of and cooperation from young members.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
  • Must work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.
  • Ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
  • Excellent team player with ability to work hands on in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry food service trays weighing 35+ pounds.
  • Ability to stand, stoop and bend repetitively during entire shift.
  • Ability to speak, read and understand the English language; ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Greet members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Respond to member questions by providing correct information and answering telephone in professional manner.
  • Assist with set‑up, decorations, and safety checks before events.
  • Host and engage children and families in activities, including pool activities, events, camps, and holiday events.
  • Assist parents signing their children in and out and checking identification.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply, at all times, with the Club’s standards, policies and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Ensure knowledge of all children's allergies and special needs.
  • Supervise children and use good judgement when in our care. Adhere to all rules regarding younger members.
  • Assist with handling kids’ meals.
  • Communicate effectively and inform immediate supervisors of any unforeseen circumstances and react appropriately.
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and secure locking of children’s playroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by managers.

Job Summary
