Job summary

Your Safe Place - The San Diego Family Justice Center, part of the City Attorney's Office, offers a paid or unpaid internship (ambassador) supporting domestic violence services. The role requires up to 20 hours weekly in person, with training, background checks, and strong computer skills.

The internship provides exposure to intake processes, data entry, client support, translation, research, and community outreach, within a trauma-informed environment at the City Attorney division.

Qualifications

• A strong record of academic achievement.
• Bilingual Highly Desirable.
• Interest in social services, criminal justice, political science, public health, or a related field.
• Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
• Strong writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize assignments and work independently.
• Commitment to integrity and ethics.
• Any combination of training and experience providing required knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating warm, trauma-informed reception and intake in person and by phone.
• Assist Care Coordinators to support real-time client needs.
• Assist in client form completion and submission.
• Data collection and entry into database.
• Engage with clients and community organizations by phone.
• Provide translation services when applicable.
• Assist in child supervision during services.
• Help prepare and participate in outreach events.
• Complete various research projects.
• Assist clients with remote hearings and court accompaniment.
• Clerical support with protections, victim compensation, and confidential safety supports.
• Contribute to program development, grant writing, and fundraising.
