What this is
We're not hiring for a desk and a nine-to-six. Oberoi Law Chambers works on matters in courts across the country, and we're looking for young advocates who'd like to take some of that work on — without giving up their own practice or their own schedule. You take what suits you, when it suits you.
Who we have in mind
Advocates and law professionals with up to five years at the Bar, enrolled with any State Bar Council. You should be able to appear in court or handle compliance and drafting work, and be comfortable running things on your own with us coordinating over call and email.
The kind of work
It depends on where you are and what you're good at, but broadly:
Court and compliance. Appearing at hearings, mentioning matters, filing. The routine-but-necessary things too — affidavits, process serving, getting certified copies. We appear before District Courts, High Courts, Tribunals and Consumer Forums, so there's a fair spread.
Drafting. Pleadings, replies, applications, written statements, notices. Vetting contracts and agreements. Opinions, case notes, due diligence when a matter calls for it.
Research. Case law and statute work specific to a jurisdiction, written up as a memo or a brief we can actually use.
What you'll need
An LLB and a valid Bar enrolment, five years or less since. A willingness to work case by case, or on a project or retainer basis — whatever we settle on. If you know your local courts and how they run, that counts for a lot. Your written English should be solid; a regional language on top of that helps.
How it works
Everything's flexible — part-time, freelance, one matter at a time. You work from your own city. You're paid per matter, per appearance, or per project, and we agree the number upfront. Coordination is remote, mostly phone and email.
Why bother
We keep a busy litigation practice going across several courts, and we've built up a network over the years that lets us cover ground in different states without dropping the ball. We're happy to put your name forward and introduce you as a collaborator we work with, not a name we've hidden. And honestly, the back-and-forth of thinking a matter through together tends to produce better arguments than either side manages alone.
If you're building your own practice and want steady, real work alongside it, this is meant for you.
This is an invitation to collaborate. We'll work out the actual terms between us.
