Job summary

NEW YORK LIBRARY ASSOCIATION in Suffern, NY seeks a Young Adult and Reference Librarian to provide high-quality reference services, digital literacy, and reader’s advisory to a diverse public while developing the YA collection and programs.

This full-time role requires an MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and NYS Public Librarian Certification, with responsibilities including instruction, outreach, catalog use, and supervising pages and volunteers; salary is $56,000 with benefits and

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and NYS Public Librarian Certification required.
• Proven interpersonal skills to assist a diverse public.
• Knowledge of research databases, Microsoft Office, and Koha troubleshooting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must have valid NYS driver's license and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services in person, by phone, and online.
• Instruct patrons on catalogs, databases, printers, computers, and internet use.
• Select, purchase, and weed YA materials; assist with collection development.
• Develop and present YA programs and community outreach.
• Maintain statistics and monthly/annual spreadsheets.
• Supervise pages and volunteers; assist with publicity.
