Job summary

Suffern Free Library, part of Ramapo Catskill Library System, seeks a Full-time Young Adult and Reference Librarian to deliver reference services to a diverse community. You will guide patrons in using catalogs, databases, and digital literacy resources, and contribute to collection development for adult and YA patrons.

The role includes organizing YA programs, book clubs, and outreach, with responsibilities for instruction, publicity, and data reporting.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program is required.
• NYS Public Librarian Certification is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to assist a diverse public.
• Proficiency with Koha and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality reference services in person, by phone, and online.
• Instruct patrons on library resources, technology, and literacy.
• Develop and weed Young Adult materials and contribute to collection development.
• Organize YA programs, book clubs, and community outreach.
• Maintain statistics and prepare monthly/annual reports.
• Supervise pages and assist with volunteers.
• Create and distribute promotional materials.
