Job summary

Heartland Alliance of YMCAs is seeking a Director of Alliance Services to provide strategic consulting and leadership to YMCA associations in Nebraska and South Dakota. You will collaborate with CEOs, boards, and Alliance leadership to strengthen governance, strategic planning, and performance through statewide initiatives.

The role emphasizes serving as the primary strategic consultant, driving collaborations, and advocating for the YMCA mission across the region. Significant travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• CEO experience within YMCA or nonprofit sector preferred.
• Five+ years of nonprofit executive leadership, organizational development, or consulting experience.
• Expertise in strategic planning, board governance, organizational capacity building, and change management.
• Experience with Performance Consulting Methodology (Partner, Assess, Implement, Measure).

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary strategic consultant to assigned YMCA associations across Nebraska and South Dakota.
• Facilitate strategic planning, board development, and organizational assessments.
• Support YMCAs through strategic collaborations, shared services, and merger exploration.
• Provide executive support including CEO searches, onboarding, and intervention strategies.
• Lead statewide advocacy efforts and represent the YMCA movement.
• Plan Advocacy Days, CEO meetings, regional gatherings, and peer learning opportunities.
• Build relationships among local YMCA leaders to foster collaboration and shared learning.
• Coordinate statewide initiatives that advance Alliance and YMCA objectives.
