Job summary

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is seeking Classroom Teacher Assistants for our child care program in Scotch Plains, NJ. You will assist with daily activities for children and help create a safe, nurturing environment that reflects YMCA values.

Shifts run weekdays 8am-3pm and 3pm-6:30pm with flexible scheduling. Starting pay is $16.04 per hour, dependent on education and experience. Benefits include a free YMCA membership and opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum of six months of basic experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with daily activities for children enrolled in the program
• Providing a quality experience that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring
• Assisting in developing self-confidence, self-control, listening skills, ability to follow directions and work habits
• Assisting with set-up and clean-up of activities (lunch, snack, projects, etc.)
• Ensuring a safe, positive, nurturing environment and continually and actively involve self with children
