Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA in Somerset County, New Jersey, seeks qualified Teacher Assistants to support the Lead Teacher with developmentally appropriate activities, circle time, and snack/lunch help. The role reports to the Lead Teacher and emphasizes positive interactions and classroom management. Schedule: Monday–Friday 3:00 pm–6:00 pm, part-time.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with young children in a group setting.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision.
• Assist Lead Teacher in creating and delivering developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
• Work as a supportive team member and maintain a clean, safe classroom environment.
• Maintain program documentation including incident, attendance and growth forms.
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and special events.
• Address ongoing health and well-being needs of staff and members.
• Follow CDC sanitary guidelines.
