Gersh Academy in West Hempstead, NY is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve as the primary educator for students aged 5-21 in a year-round school program.

The role involves leading instructional programs, communicating with families, and implementing IEP goals within a K-12 setting. Candidates should have NY State teaching certification and experience with ASD-related needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Education or Special Education required; Master’s preferred.
• New York State Teaching Certification required.
• Experience with ADHD/LD/HFA and ABA preferred; assessment and report writing experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily instructional programs and communicate with parents to ensure student participation.
• Access trainings on software/tools used for instruction and utilize digital platforms as appropriate.
• Prepare daily/weekly lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP goals.
• Document attendance, daily session notes, and progress.
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings and update IEPs/goals as needed.
• Provide support to families and prepare teaching resources and materials.
