Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a dedicated Certified Special Education Teacher to lead instructional programs for students aged 5-21 in a year-round school setting.

You will communicate with families, align lessons to IEP goals, and participate in IEP/ CSE meetings. The role requires NY Teaching Certification and a strong background in autism support, ABA, and assessment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (Master's preferred) in education, special education or related field or professional certification required
• NY Teaching Certification Required
• Experience working with students with ADHD, LD, HFA and other related disabilities preferred
• Experience using Applied Behavioral Analysis preferred
• Experience in assessment and report writing preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead daily instructional programs to drive student achievement in school setting
• Communicate with parents/caretakers to ensure student participation
• Access trainings to use software programs and tools for instruction
• Use motivational strategies to engage students and adapt resources for teaching
• Prepare daily/weekly lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP goals
• Record daily attendance and document lesson outcomes
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings and update IEPs/goals as needed
• Coach and mentor parents to support daily learning
• Prepare resources, lesson plans and materials
• Monitor and document student participation and progress
• Communicate progress to supervisor/BCBA
• Other duties as assigned
