Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad invites students to join its Risk Management team within the Law Department for a year-round internship in Omaha. You will support investigation files, organize records, and assist with audits while gaining exposure to UP's processes, systems, and services.

The role requires pursuing an undergraduate degree, availability for 15–20 hours weekly during the academic year and full-time in the summer, with on-site work at Union Pacific Center in Omaha and limited remote work

Qualifications

• College credits equivalent to at least one year toward an undergraduate degree.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal and external customers.
• Ability to organize detailed records and maintain accurate, complete documentation.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple assignments, follow established processes, and meet deadlines.
• Availability to work full-time in Omaha during the summer and an average of 15-20 hours per week during the academic year, with flexibility around academic commitments.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform core Risk Management work, processes, and customer-service activities
• Maintain organized and complete investigation files and electronic records
• Complete case-file audits using established processes
• Gather and organize documents for audits and external reporting
• Review, analyze, and trend data to support team needs and identify process efficiencies
• Communicate with internal and external customers to obtain information and support Risk Management activities
• Support the management of company assets in accordance with policies, operating procedures, and agreement terms
• Develop and carry out project action plans and complete team assignments
• Provide operational and administrative support to Risk Management leaders and cross-functional partners
• Build professional relationships within the department and across the company
• Remain open and flexible to perform other duties as assigned
