Job summary

Parker Hannifin Parflex Division is seeking a Yarn Braider & Winder Operator for a 3rd shift (Sun-Sat, 10pm-6am). You will set up and operate yarn braiding machines, transfer yarn to bobbins, and ensure quality in production. Training provided for equipment and safety.

Responsibilities include monitoring tensions, tooling changes, and packaging finished product. The role requires basic math, measurement skills, and good English communication; overtime is expected after training.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED is required.
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate yarn braiding machines and manage yarn transfer to bobbins.
  • Monitor bobbin footage, yarn condition and tensions.
  • Change tooling and gears to ensure proper dimensions.
  • Perform quality checks and record data.
  • Package product and prepare cartons and spools.

Position Summary

Our Yarn Braider & Winder Operators are responsible for the set‑up and operation of all yarn twisters, winders and braiders. This is a 3rd shift position. Hours are Sunday-Thursday, 10pm-6am. Approximately 8 hours of overtime a week is expected after training is complete.

Responsibilities

Job Description/Principal Accountabilities

  • Operation and set-up of yarn braiding machines consists of transferring yarn from shipping spools to bobbins suitable for use in braiding machines. Operator must maintain the condition of the bobbins prior to winding.
  • Operation and set-up of yarn braiding machines consists of the physical transfer of full bobbins to braider decks, removal of empty bobbins from braider deck and splicing operation required during transfer .
  • Monitor bobbin footage, yarn condition and tensions.
  • Change over of tooling and gears as necessary to ensure proper dimension.
  • Visual attention must be given to the payoffs, adhesive application, braid pattern, inking and take‑ups while braiding.
  • Perform all required quality checks and record all pertinent information to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Package product according to instructions to include the making of cartons and spools as required.
  • Accountable for process, evaluation, measurement, documentation, and improvement on a continual basis in order to meet plant business objectives.
  • Participate in area and process team activities and projects.
  • All irregularities will be reported to the Shift Supervisor or Leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Leader.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
  • Required HS diploma or GED
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge And Skills
  • Mathematical aptitude and proficiency
  • Keyboarding skills, with some knowledge of MS Office software
  • Ability to operate forklift and manual and electric jack; Company will train
  • Measurement skills, including use of precision measuring tools and equipment
  • Attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot for process and product improvement
  • Effective English verbal communication and listening skills
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Successful prioritizing and management of work projects
Physical Demands

Our manufacturing positions have several minimum physical requirements to ensure safety and effective job performance, including:

  • Standing: Ability to stand for 8+ hours during a shift.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ability to wear required PPE such as safety shoes, eye protection (glasses/goggles), hearing protection, safety vests, and gloves.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hands for tasks such as using safety scissors, bending tubing, taping tube, and connecting hose assemblies.
  • Sorting: Ability to sort items by size, shape, and color.
  • Physical Movements: Includes pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting as part of daily duties.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 45 pounds safely.
  • Sensory Requirements: Must have the ability to perceive color accurately and hear plant paging, alarms, and other important auditory signals.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing plant: Exposure to moving parts on a line, as well as moving equipment throughout the plant.
