Job summary

Tague Lumber is seeking a dependable Yardman for Kennett Square. The role focuses on customer service, loading/unloading, and safe handling of materials in a fast-paced yard and warehouse setting.

You will operate forklifts, assist with order picking, packaging, and shipping duties while maintaining safety and organization in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a customer service or team-based environment.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Familiarity with building materials preferred.
• Ability to lift 60–100 lbs regularly and climb ladders/stairs.
• Basic reading, writing and math required.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background/physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with loading/unloading materials.
• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe yard environment.
• Handle order picking, wrapping, packing, labeling for shipping/receiving.
• Package finished products for shipping (shrink wrap, boxing, labeling).

Description: Tague Lumber is seeking a dependable, hands-on Yardman to join our Kennett Square team. What You’ll Do

As a Yardman, you will play a key role in ensuring customers receive the materials they need safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

• Greeting customers and assisting with loading and unloading materials
• Operating equipment such as forklifts safely and effectively
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe yard environment
• Order picking, wrapping products, packing, labeling shipping and receiving
• Packaging finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
• Following all company policies and safety procedures
• Supporting general yard and warehouse operations as needed

Work Environment

This position is based in an active warehouse and outdoor yard setting. The role involves frequent physical activity including lifting (including overhead), walking, bending, standing, and carrying materials. Employees should be comfortable working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

Machines/Tools/Equipment

Forklifts, hand trucks, small power saws, banding equipment (used to wrap banding around building materials, wrap, tighten and then push down to secure banding).
