Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) in Tennessee seeks a professional driver to move tractors and trailers in yards, docks and shipping areas, following safety and DOT policies. You will perform trailer movement, hook/unhook, staging at docks, and keep logs accurate while meeting delivery needs.

Responsibilities include inspections, minor maintenance, keeping areas clean, and complying with DFA procedures. Requires CDL-A with tanker endorsement if needed, and HS diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to optimize plant/warehouse efficiency.

• Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for drivers.
• Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement logs.

• Keep assigned area sanitary and clean; wash exteriors if needed.
• Complete sales route deliveries and/or over-the-road routes as needed.
• Adhere to DFA quality, safety, DOT and GMP policies; report issues.
• Attend driver workshops and training sessions.

Job description

General Purpose

Drive truck or tractor at vehicle parking, yard or docking areas to move, position or park trucks and trailers to facilitate shipping and receiving functions. Transport trucks and trailers for repairs, as necessary, according to policies and procedures and safety protocols. May also operate wash bay using all necessary equipment to clean tractors and trailers. Keep the yard neat and orderly.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs
• Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area
• Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading
• Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers
• Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log
• Follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area
• Perform duties required to ensure that assigned area is sanitary and clean
• Wash exterior of trucks and trailers if appropriate for yard location
• Complete sales route deliveries and/or over-the-road routes, as needed
• Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity and accidents and injuries
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Meet all DOT requirements
• Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements
• Certification and/or License – Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed
