Job summary

DFA is seeking a Truck Driver/yard position in El Paso, TX. Drive and position trucks and trailers to support shipping, receiving, and repairs. Operate wash bay as needed and keep the yard clean and orderly.

Schedule is 3pm-11pm, Mon/Tues/Thur/Fri, with pay of $21.07 per hour and DOT/compliance requirements. Requires High School diploma or equivalent, CDL Class A with tanker endorsement, and recent tractor/trailer experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement if required.
• Familiar with DOT rules and safe vehicle operation.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and logs.

Responsibilities

• Move and position trailers and tractors to optimize yard and dock efficiency.
• Hook/unhook trailers and move trucks around the dock and service areas.
• Spot trailers at dock spaces for unloading/loading and connect to tractors.
• Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement logs.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Keep areas sanitary and within safety, DOT, GMP policies.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE

Drive truck or tractor at vehicle parking, yard or docking areas to move, position or park trucks and trailers to facilitate shipping and receiving functions. Transport trucks and trailers for repairs, as necessary, according to policies and procedures and safety protocols. May also operate wash bay using all necessary equipment to clean tractors and trailers. Keep the yard neat and orderly.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs
• Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area
• Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading
• Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers
• Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log
• Follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area
• Perform duties required to ensure that assigned area is sanitary and clean
• Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity and accidents and injuries
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Meet all DOT requirements
• Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements
• Certification and/or License – Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed

• Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation
