Job summary

Mutual Materials Co is seeking an Entry level forklift operator at the Salem branch in Salem, OR. This full-time role loads and unloads products, prepares shipments, and supports yard maintenance in a customer-facing environment.

The ideal candidate will be able to lift 70+ pounds, work outdoors in all weather, and committing to a 40-hour workweek with day shifts. On-the-job training provided to new hires by experienced staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 70+ pounds occasionally and stand for long periods.
• Customer-facing orientation with safety-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to load/unload Mutual Materials products.
• Load company trucks and customer vehicles as needed.
• Hand-load vehicles when required and maintain yard order.
• Manage inventory, break down pallets, and handle shipping docs.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions; adhere to safety standards.
• Provide excellent customer service to customers and drivers.

Position Description

In this position, you will be responsible for operating a forklift to safely and efficiently load and unload Mutual Materials products. This includes loading company trucks as well as customer vehicles.

As this is a customer-facing role, providing exceptional service is essential to maintaining and promoting positive customer relationships.

While forklift operation will be your primary duty, you may also be required to hand-load customer vehicles as needed. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the yard, managing inventory, breaking down pallets, and handling shipping and receiving documentation.

This position requires outdoor work and is subject to all weather conditions.

Lift up to and more than 90lbs

On the job training will be provided to all New Hires by experienced Mutual Materials employees.

This is a full-time job, Monday-Friday. Overtime when necessary.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications

• Similar/related work experience in the building materials industry is preferred.
• The qualified candidate will have great customer service skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a fast-paced distribution team.
• Physical capacity to lift 70+ pounds on an occasional basis; able to be on your feet for most of the day; bending, twisting, and lifting are essential for this position.
• OSHA certified forklift certification/ experience is preferred.
• Previous experience with masonry products, stone and/or construction practices a plus.
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week
