Job summary

Coastal Logistics Group in Virginia is seeking a Yard & Warehouse Utility Operator to support logistics, material handling, and yard operations. The role combines moving trailers, forklift operation, and general labor in a fast-paced environment.

You will work Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, outdoors in varied weather, with overtime possible. The position requires safety awareness, reliability, and teamwork to keep shipments moving efficiently.

Qualifications

• Prior experience operating a jockey truck, forklift, or in general labor.
• Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard truck (jockey truck) to move trailers and containers safely.
• Perform daily yard checks to ensure proper placement of containers and equipment.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and organize materials.
• Perform general labor duties such as sweeping, cleaning, and organizing inventory.
• Assist with shipping and receiving, verifying paperwork and inspecting goods.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard, dock, and warehouse areas.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Work with team members and other departments to ensure efficient operations.
• Follow safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Support other departments or team members as needed.

Job Summary

The Yard & Warehouse Utility Operator plays a vital role in supporting logistics, material handling, and yard operations. This position includes a mix of jockey duties (moving trailers within the yard), forklift operation, and general labor tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of performing physical work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate yard truck (jockey truck) to move trailers and containers within the facility safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily yard checks to ensure efficient operations and proper placement of containers and equipment.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and organize materials and products.
• Perform general labor duties such as sweeping, cleaning, organizing inventory, and assisting with warehouse upkeep.
• Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including verifying paperwork and inspecting goods.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, dock, and warehouse areas.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs.
• Work closely with team members and other departments to ensure efficient operations and timely movement of materials.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Support other departments or team members as needed.
