Job summary

Qualifications

• No education required.
• Experience as a package handler or switcher/CDL operator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches by hooking and moving a parked trailer from yard to a load/unload door or from door to yard.
• Communicates with management/central control to coordinate trailer movements.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follows safe yard switching processes and uses hand-to-surface methods for package handling.
• Loads/unloads packages onto/from delivery vehicles, trailers, carts and load gratings.
• Lifts and sorts packages for two to four hour shifts.
• Sorts packages by scanning labels and charts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
