Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Truck Spotter to safely move trailers and equipment within the plant yard, loading docks, and parking areas. The role ensures trailers are correctly positioned for loading/unloading while adhering to safety policies and DOT guidelines.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, verifying trailer and seal numbers, and maintaining clear communication with shipping and transportation teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required with copy of medical clearance card.
• Clean driving record preferred.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from loading docks, staging areas, and designated yard locations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard tractors and equipment.
• Verify trailer numbers, seal numbers, and locations for accurate placement.
• Maintain communication with shipping, receiving, and transportation personnel.
• Inspect trailers for damage and report issues to management.
• Ensure all trailers are properly secured at docks before loading or unloading.
• Follow all traffic patterns, speed limits, and safety regulations within the facility.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements as required.
• Assist with yard organization to ensure efficient trailer flow.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
