Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. is seeking an on-site Dock/Yard Operator in Raleigh, NC to move trailers safely between dock doors and the yard, and to communicate movements to the Shipping lead.

The role requires operating a hydraulic fifth wheel and a 53’ dry van, ensuring loads are secured and trailers are clean, with strict adherence to policies and laws. Daily shift handoffs and reporting issues to the on-duty manager are part of the job.

• Operate a hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC with a 53’ dry van safely.
• Safely move trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Climb in/out of tractor to hook and unhook trailers.
• Ensure trailers are clean and debris-free before docking.
• Adhere to all company policies and legal requirements.
• Ensure load is secured before dropping trailer.
• Communicate yard issues to the Manager on duty.
• Note and report asset repairs before preloading.
• Conduct daily shift handoff communication before start of shift.

On Site Position..… Responsible for safe and efficient movement of trailers to and from dock doors. Communicate all movements to Shipping lead.

• Must be able to safely and effectively operate a hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC with 53’ dry van.
• Responsible for safe movement of trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Physical ability to repeatedly climb in and out of tractor to hook and unhook trailers.
• Ensure trailers are clean and free of debris before putting to dock.
• Adhere to all company policies.
• Adhere to all State, local, and Federal laws.
• Ensure load is secured before dropping trailer.
• Communicate all issues related to the yard operations to Manager on duty
• Ensure that all appropriate asset repairs are noted and corrected prior to preloading assets
• Perform a daily shift communication transition prior to the start of the shift
