Tibbetts Lumber Co. LLC is seeking a full-time Yard Supervisor to lead yard operations in Ocala, FL. The role involves directing staff, coordinating material handling, and ensuring safety and accuracy in loading, unloading, and storage of yard materials.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of yard experience, strong Excel skills, and can communicate in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. CDL-A preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 5 years of yard operations experience or equivalent education.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally.
• Outdoor yard environment with varying weather and noise.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise yard staff, assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide training.
• Oversee loading/unloading and movement of materials on site; ensure accuracy.
• Maintain safety procedures, coordinate equipment maintenance, and ensure compliance.
• Assist customers with loading and inventory inquiries; provide delivery status.
• Prepare shipping documents and ensure proper packing and labeling.

Description

Tibbetts Lumber Co. LLC, a Lumber and Building materials employer is seeking a full-time Yard Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads and directs employees including assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work progress and accuracy, providing guidance, addressing escalated issues, and training less experienced team members. May provide input on the performance of assigned employees to management.
• Duties include loading, unloading, and movement of materials on the premises, utilizing material handling equipment and machinery; receiving yard materials, and instructing yard workers in receiving and storage procedures.
• Ensures that employees receive proper training and certification, if necessary, to operate equipment and machinery used in the yard; ensures that equipment is serviced on schedule and maintained effectively.
• Inspects loading operation for outgoing to delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations; prepares bills of lading and packing slips.
• Provides on-the-job training to outside or new yard employees including product knowledge of items stored in the yard and warehouse; housekeeping and safety procedures.
• On occasion, will perform the same duties as other yard personnel.
• Ensures that outside areas are kept neat and clean and scraps and yard debris are appropriately recycled or disposed of; reports safety hazards and handles remedial action.
• Assists customers in loading and load building; provides delivery status information, inventory availability, and answers related questions.
• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers, attends periodic safety meetings as required, and may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
• Leads and directs employees including assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work progress and accuracy, providing guidance, addressing escalated issues, and training less experienced team members. May provide input on the performance of assigned employees to management.
• A valid Class A CDL driver’s license is preferred but not required.

Essential Requirements:

• Advanced knowledge of yard and product activities on location including component or materials’ weights and methods of loading.
• Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard; maintains certification to operate such if required.
• Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency.
• Ability to read and write work schedules and reports.
• Knowledge of basic math, counting, and estimating.
• Customer Service orientation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Bilingual is a plus in English and Spanish.
• 5 years of yard operations experience or equivalent education.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
• Work is performed primarily in an outdoor yard environment, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise and dust.
• May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
