Tibbetts Lumber Co. LLC is seeking a full-time Yard Supervisor in Wisconsin to lead yard staff, coordinate material handling, and ensure safe operations.

You will train workers, manage loading/unloading, and maintain equipment service schedules while assisting customers with loading and delivery status. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in yard operations, Excel proficiency, and a strong commitment to safety; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of yard and product activities on location including weights and loading methods.
• Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of yard machinery; maintain certifications if required.
• Read and write work schedules and reports; basic math, counting, and estimating.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs employees, assigns and reviews work, and trains less experienced staff.
• Loads, unloads, and moves materials using handling equipment; manages receiving and storage.
• Ensures equipment is serviced on schedule and maintains safety standards.
• Inspects loads for delivery, prepares bills of lading and packing slips.
• Mentors new yard employees; communicates product knowledge and safety procedures.
• Assists customers with loading and provides inventory information.
• Ensures yard areas are clean; reports hazards and coordinates remedial actions.

Overview

Tibbetts Lumber Co. LLC, a lumber and building materials employer, is seeking a full-time Yard Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs employees including assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work progress and accuracy, providing guidance, addressing escalated issues, and training less experienced team members. May provide input on the performance of assigned employees to management.


• Duties include loading, unloading, and movement of materials on the premises, utilizing material handling equipment and machinery; receiving yard materials, and instructing yard workers in receiving and storage procedures.


• Ensures that employees receive proper training and certification, if necessary, to operate equipment and machinery used in the yard; ensures that equipment is serviced on schedule and maintained effectively.


• Inspects loading operation for outgoing to delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations; prepares bills of lading and packing slips.


• Provides on-the-job training to outside or new yard employees including product knowledge of items stored in the yard and warehouse; housekeeping and safety procedures.


• On occasion, will perform the same duties as other yard personnel.


• Ensures that outside areas are kept neat and clean and scraps and yard debris are appropriately recycled or disposed of; reports safety hazards and handles remedial action.


• Assists customers in loading and load building; provides delivery status information, inventory availability, and answers related questions.


• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers, attends periodic safety meetings as required, and may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.


• Leads and directs employees including assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work progress and accuracy, providing guidance, addressing escalated issues, and training less experienced team members. May provide input on the performance of assigned employees to management.


• A valid Class A CDL driver’s license is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of yard and product activities on location including component or materials’ weights and methods of loading.


• Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard; maintains certification to operate such if required.


• Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency.


• Ability to read and write work schedules and reports.


• Knowledge of basic math, counting, and estimating.


• Customer Service orientation.


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.


• Bilingual is a plus in English and Spanish.


• 5 years of yard operations experience or equivalent education.


• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.


• Work is performed primarily in an outdoor yard environment, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise and dust.


• May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
