Job summary

The DeLong Co., Inc. in Omaha, NE is seeking a Spotter Driver for yard operations. This full-time, hourly role requires moving trailers and shipping containers safely, performing inspections, and maintaining records in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Day-to-day work includes back-and-spot of trailers, container door operations, and clear communication with dispatch via two-way radios. CDL-A is preferred but not required for yard duties.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in yard hostling or commercial driving.
• Ability to back trailers into loading docks safely and efficiently.
• Strong reliability and punctuality; team depends on you.
• Safety-first mindset with attention to inspections and yard movement.
• CDL Class A preferred, not required for yard duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned yard trucks each shift.
• Safely back, spot, hook, and unhook about 30 trailers per day.
• Open and close container doors on approximately 30 containers per day.
• Communicate clearly with team members and dispatch using handheld radios.
• Move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and yard spots as directed.
• Follow all yard safety protocols and traffic patterns at all times.
• Assist with general facility upkeep during slower periods.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements as required.
