Job summary

The DeLong Co., Inc. in Edgerton, KS is hiring a Spotter Driver to safely move trailers and shipping containers around our yard. This is a full-time, hourly position with overtime after 40 hours per week.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, back and spot 30 trailers per day, open container doors, communicate with dispatch on radios, and help keep the yard organized and safe.

No CDL is required, and you will work in varying weather with occasional weekend hours during peak season.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license (CDL not required)
• Back and maneuver 40-ft and 20-ft trailers including container-mounted units
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and documentation
• Back trailers safely and communicate via handheld radios
• Work outdoors in varying weather; extended peak-season hours
• Occasional weekends during peak season (Sept–Nov)

Responsibilities

• Back, spot, hook, and unhook ~30 trailers per day including container-mounted units
• Open/close container doors on ~30 containers per day
• Move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and yard spots
• Maintain records of trailer movements
• Communicate clearly with team and dispatch via two-way radios
• Assist with general yard cleanliness and upkeep
• Follow yard safety protocols at all times
• Maintain equipment inspections and report issues
