Job summary

The DeLong Co., Inc. in Edgerton, KS is hiring a Spotter Driver to safely move trailers and shipping containers in our yard. This yard-only role does not require a CDL and operates as an hourly, non-exempt position with overtime after 40 hours per week.

You will inspect, back and position ~30 trailers daily, open container doors, and communicate with dispatch using handheld radios while maintaining safety and accuracy in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license (CDL not required).
• Comfortable backing up trailers.
• Ability to back and maneuver 40-ft and 20-ft trailers.
• Operate handheld radio equipment for communication.
• Maintain safety and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard trucks.
• Back, spot, hook, and unhook ~30 trailers per day.
• Open and close container doors on ~30 containers per day.
• Communicate with team members and dispatch using handheld radios.
• Move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and yard spots.
• Follow yard safety protocols and traffic patterns.
• Assist with facility cleanliness and upkeep during slower periods.
• Maintain records of trailer movements.
