Job summary

Port Houston is seeking a Yard Planner to optimize yard operations and ensure efficient vessel loading/unloading at its container and breakbulk terminals. The role involves building allocations, forecasting cargo projections, and resolving yard stowage issues to meet industry needs.

You will coordinate with crane operators, stevedores, and truck staff to maintain smooth terminal throughput and support inter-terminal moves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Administration or Business Administration, or 5+ years of directly related experience.
• 1+ years of related experience preferred.
• TWIC credential within 30 days of appointment and maintained for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead yard planning efforts for operations.
• Coordinate with crane operators to expedite container loading/unloading.
• Work with stevedores to improve yard stowage strategies.
• Coordinate truck movements to maintain efficient terminal traffic flow.
• Monitor exports, imports, and empty allocations for container terminals.
• Participate in rotation between yard planning and vessel operations teams.
