Job summary

Builders FirstSource, America's largest supplier of building materials, value-added components and building services, seeks a Yard Supervisor to direct yard personnel, ensure safe and efficient movement of goods, and deliver excellent customer service.

You will oversee loading/unloading, certify equipment operators, maintain safety standards, train staff, and collaborate with management to optimize yard operations in a fast-paced outdoor setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, plus five years yard operations experience, or equivalent.
• Ability to operate yard machinery and tools as needed.
• Strong leadership and communication skills for directing yard staff.

Responsibilities

• Directs yard staff in loading, unloading, and movement of materials on the premises.
• Ensures training and certification for equipment operation; maintains equipment schedules.
• Inspects loading operations for shipping compliance, load limits and safety regulations.
• Trains new yard employees on product knowledge, safety procedures and housekeeping.
• Leads and reviews work progress, provides guidance, and escalates issues to management.
• Represents input on performance and process improvements to management.
