Job summary

Gerdau North America in Sikeston, MO is seeking a Yard Operator to perform a variety of yard duties including scrap handling, inspection, and processing. The role requires safe operation of material handling equipment and collaboration with scale, supervisors, and customers to meet quality and shipping requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety routines, staging and loading scrap, and assisting with nonferrous processing while upholding Gerdau’s safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
• Operate the loader and/or the material handler to assist in loading and unloading scrap material, while following quality standards.
• Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality; communicate findings with the scale.
• Ensure outbound materials meet safety and quality standards.
• Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
• Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs as required or directed.
• Assist in nonferrous processing; including segregation of materials to upgrade products.
