Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a Yard Operator to support scrap handling, grading, and material movement. You will operate a loader or material handler, assist in scrap inspection, and ensure safety, quality, and efficient daily operations while communicating with the scale, supervisor, and customers.

Responsibilities also include scanning incoming scrap for radiation, coordinating with maintenance, and contributing to inventory and nonferrous processing as needed.

• High School Education at a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Follow Gerdau safety and environmental procedures in the yard.
• Operate the loader and/or the material handler to load/unload scrap while meeting quality standards.
• Ensure incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and quarantined if failed.
• Inspect scrap for grade and quality and communicate findings to scale.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and perform daily equipment care.
• Provide excellent customer service and support rail operations when required.
