Job summary

Maersk Logistics & Services USA, Inc. is seeking a Head of Yard Operations to lead yard efficiency, safety, and financial performance.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams across Operations, Transportation, Engineering, Finance, and HR to drive continuous improvement and scalable growth. The role requires deep knowledge of yard management, drayage, intermodal transport, and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• College Degree Preferred but not required.
• Minimum 7-10 years industry experience in a 3PL environment and company owned distribution center or warehouse facility.
• Minimum 10 years supervisory or managerial experience.
• Labor relations experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of handling drayage and intermodal transportation.
• Financial acumen and ability to manage projects and risk.
• Planning, controlling, staffing, budgeting, organizing, and communicating skills required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure yard is maintained in a safe, secure, organized, and compliant condition at all times.
• Monitor yard capacity and equipment availability, especially during peak periods, and communicate status to leadership.
• Oversee daily yard execution including trailer, container, and parking asset utilization.
• Forecast yard moves, coordinate door assignments, and manage outside carrier pools.
• Monitor and improve metrics: yard productivity, door dwell time, equipment dwell time, asset utilization.
• Develop capacity strategies to support growth, seasonal demand, and network optimization.
• Maintain yard-related financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and GL reconciliation.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and vendor management.
