Job summary

UPS in Portland, OR is seeking a permanent Dispatch Operations Associate to support small package dispatch activity, align with service, safety, and cost goals, and coordinate with teams to optimize staffing and equipment for transportation needs.

You will oversee load and tractor planning, monitor movements, and verify trailer inventory while ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and timely deliveries. Flexibility for up to five days per week is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent - Preferred
• Ability to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs
• Availability to work flexible shift hours, up to 5 days per week
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Management experience - Preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists with dispatch planning and ensures service, safety, and cost goals.
• Coordinates load and tractor planning and tracks equipment.
• Reviews driver hours to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conducts hazardous materials audits and safety reviews.
• Determines training needs and supports development plans; conducts evaluations.
• Oversees yard operations and trailer inventory and movements.
