Job summary

Buchheit Family of Companies’ Retail Store in Missouri seeks a part-time Lumber Yard Worker to help sort and rack lumber, assist customers, and load merchandise on delivery trucks. You will operate a forklift or industrial truck to move materials and perform daily safety inspections.

The role requires a strong work ethic, the ability to read simple instructions, and clear communication with customers and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily forklift inspections and maintain yard appearance.
• Adhere to loss prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.

Position Summary

The Lumber Yard worker is responsible for sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size. They often operate a forklift or Industrial truck to assist in moving and loading materials and products.

• Answers questions, identify and direct customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard
• Load merchandise on to store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer
• Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary
• Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length
• Reads work order, invoice, or follows oral instructions to determine materials or containers needing moved and/or loaded
• Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise
• Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner
• Operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading or moving merchandise and materials
• Complete daily forklift inspections
• Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures
• Safety awareness of anything in store that may be hazard to employees or customers
• Effectively communicates customer issues and concerns to all applicable internal staff members
• Additional duties, as assigned
