Job summary

The Buchheit Family of Companies is seeking a part-time Lumber Yard worker in Perryville, MO. You will sort and rack lumber, assist customers, and operate a forklift to load and move materials in a fast-paced retail yard.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service.
• Answers questions, identify and direct customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard.
• Load merchandise onto store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer.
• Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary.
• Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack according to grade and length.
• Read work orders or invoices to determine materials to move and load.
• Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise; maintain yard appearance.
• Operate forklift or industrial truck to move merchandise and materials.
• Complete daily forklift inspections.
• Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control and compliance procedures.
• Safety awareness of hazards to employees or customers.
• Effectively communicate customer issues to internal staff.
• Additional duties, as assigned.

Position Summary

The Lumber Yard worker is responsible for sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size. They often operate a forklift or Industrial truck to assist in moving and loading materials and products.

• Answers questions, identify and direct customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard
• Load merchandise on to store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer
• Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary
• Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length
• Reads work order, invoice, or follows oral instructions to determine materials or containers needing moved and/or loaded
• Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise
• Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner
• Operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading or moving merchandise and materials
• Complete daily forklift inspections
• Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures
• Safety awareness of anything in store that may be hazard to employees or customers
• Effectively communicates customer issues and concerns to all applicable internal staff members
• Additional duties, as assigned
