Job summary

Prestage Farms in Camden, SC is seeking a yard jockey driver to efficiently move trailers between the yard, shelter, shipping dock, plant, and scales. You will stage trailers, assist with docking, and ensure safe trailer movement under supervision of the CAS or Warehouse Supervisor.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with yard jockey equipment, and forklift operation. CDL is preferred. Work hours include Monday–Thursday with overtime and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard, loading locations, and docks with safety first.
• Maintain order in the truck yard and stage trailers for operations.
• Dock/undock trailers and ensure safe movement of trailers.
• Assist with cages hookup/unhook and clean as needed.
• Perform yard checks and inspect containers; document loads and paperwork.
• Keep equipment and lot clean and orderly; perform housekeeping.

Job description

General:

The yard jockey driver is responsible for managing the movement and staging of trailers to and from the shelter, shipping dock, plant, and scales. The driver maintains order on the truck yard and stages trailers for operations. The yard jockey driver ensures the safe and correct movement of trailers. The position reports to the CAS or Warehouse Supervisor w/ primary work schedule of Monday - Thursday (days) 6:00am - 5:30pm with flexibility to work overtime, early or late shift, and weekends, as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

• Operates with a safety-first mindset to move trailers to and from the yard and loading locations
• Maintains order of the truck yard and stages trailers for operations
• Assists with docking / undocking trailers and ensures safe and correct movement of trailers
• Partners with crane operator to hook / unhook cages & assists w/ cleaning cages / trailers as required
• Inspects containers and performs yard checks
• Safely loads product / cages onto trailers, keeps accurate load documentation & delivery paperwork
• Keeps the equipment and storage lot clean and in proper order; completes on-going housekeeping
• Works within GMP, safety, and USDA guidelines to achieve top quality work
• Willingly learns new skills, cross trains others, and trains new vehicle drivers on safety procedures
• Performs other assigned duties as directed by supervisor/manager

Education:

• High school diploma or GED (Min.);

Experience:

• Working knowledge / experience in Yard dog equipment operation

• Material handling & forklift experience- (required)

• CDL; truck driving experience (preferred)

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

• Strong experience operating/ troubleshooting yard jockey equipment
• CDL / Truck driving experience (preferred / not required)
• Solid understanding of food safety & animal welfare compliance
• Self-directed team player w/ good communication / interpersonal skills
• Able to work in fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
• Basic computer and math skills

Physical Requirements:

• Lift / move up to 40 lbs.; occasionally 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop up to 12 hrs./shift
• Work safely indoors & outdoors in varying temperatures; wet environment w/ a distinct odor (e.g., 35-40 / 100 degrees)
