US 1 Shorthaul is seeking a Night Yard Jockey in Robert, LA for a full-time, hourly role with a 7:00 pm – 7:00 am shift. Home daily and no OTR responsibilities are noted. The position requires yard operations, safety compliance, and exacting trailer handling.

The role emphasizes dropping and hook operations, trailer movement with yard goats, and completing shift-end inspections with reports. CDL is preferred; background and drug testing are required.

Qualifications

• Experience backing 48' to 53' trailers.
• 12 months of over the road or trailer spotting in the last 3 years.
• This position requires passing pre-hire background and drug test.
• Class A CDL (preferred) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of dock with yard goats.
• Drop and hook as required.
• Perform end-of-shift yard audits.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and report truck condition.
• Adhere to safety-sensitive guidelines for yard duties.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Correctly move trailers in and out of dock with yard goats
• Responsible for drop and hook
• Accurately perform yard audits at end of shift
• Proper pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditions
• Adhere to guidelines of safety-sensitive functions pertaining to job responsibilities within yard
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Possess a team-player attitude
• Ability to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Understanding and communicating in the English language is a requirement
• Ability to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS)

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience backing 48' to 53' trailers
• Minimum of 12 months of over the road or trailer spotting experience in the last 3 years
• This position must pass pre-hire background and drug test
• Class A CDL (preferred)

POSITION TYPE:

• This is full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position, paid weekly
• Hours worked over 40 hours in 1-week qualify for overtime (paid time and a half)

• No OTR for this position
