Job summary

US 1 Shorthaul is seeking a Night Yard Jockey in Robert, LA to join our full-time team. The role covers yard movements, drop & hook, inspections, and yard audits with weekly pay and a strong safety focus.

Night shift runs 7:00 pm – 7:00 am. Class A CDL is preferred, with at least 12 months of yard or trailer experience. Home daily and no OTR travel, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Possess a team-player attitude.
• Ability to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Understanding and communicating in the English language is a requirement.
• Ability to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS).

Responsibilities

• Correctly move trailers in and out of dock with yard goats.
• Responsible for drop and hook.
• Accurately perform yard audits at end of shift.
• Proper pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditions.
• Adhere to guidelines of safety-sensitive functions pertaining to job responsibilities within yard.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

About US 1 Shorthaul's Yard Jockey Position:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Correctly move trailers in and out of dock with yard goats
• Responsible for drop and hook
• Accurately perform yard audits at end of shift
• Proper pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditions
• Adhere to guidelines of safety-sensitive functions pertaining to job responsibilities within yard
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Possess a team-player attitude
• Ability to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Understanding and communicating in the English language is a requirement
• Ability to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS)

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience backing 48' to 53' trailers
• Minimum of 12 months of over the road or trailer spotting experience in the last 3 years
• This position must pass pre-hire background and drug test
• Class A CDL (preferred)

POSITION TYPE:

• This is full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position, paid weekly
• Hours worked over 40 hours in 1-week qualify for overtime (paid time and a half)

TRAVEL:

• No OTR for this position
