Job summary

Group O, Inc. is seeking a Yard Jockey Driver in Lebanon, IN to move trailers and containers safely around the yard and docks. You will help position equipment for loading, maintain yard organization, and follow all safety procedures.

The role requires a CDL Class A license, strong safety focus, and ability to operate yard equipment with attention to detail in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Full-time hours are Monday–Friday on the 1st shift with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver's license; CDL Class A preferred.
Ability to qualify to operate company yard equipment.
Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a yard truck (spotter truck) to move trailers and containers within the facility yard.
Position trailers at loading docks according to warehouse schedules and operational priorities.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
Inspect trailers for visible damage and report issues immediately.
Verify trailer and seal numbers when required.
Maintain accurate trailer movement logs and yard inventory records.
Coordinate with warehouse personnel, transportation teams, and supervisors regarding trailer availability and dock assignments.
Monitor yard conditions and report safety hazards.
Ensure proper trailer chocking, securing, and compliance with site safety requirements.
Assist with trailer audits and yard checks to verify equipment location and status.
Support peak operational activities and perform additional duties as assigned.
Assist with warehouse operations when yard activity permits.
Support inventory and equipment tracking initiatives.
Participate in continuous improvement and safety programs.
Train new yard jockey employees as assigned.

Yard Jockey Driver

Compensation: $25.00 / hour

Description

The Yard Jockey Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers, containers, and equipment throughout the warehouse yard and dock areas. This position plays a critical role in supporting warehouse operations by ensuring trailers are positioned accurately for loading and unloading, maintaining yard organization, and adhering to all safety and operational procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Safely operate a yard truck (spotter truck) to move trailers and containers within the facility yard.

Monday through Friday

Overtime may be required at various times as well as working on holidays

Travel

Minimal travel required.
Work is primarily performed within the facility yard and warehouse environment.

Job Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
CDL Class A license.
Ability to qualify for operation of company yard equipment.

Preferred Education/Certifications:

Forklift certification.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience operating commercial vehicles, yard trucks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment.
Experience in warehouse, distribution center, transportation, or logistics operations.
Experience working within a high-volume shipping and receiving environment.

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Ability to operate yard equipment safely and efficiently.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Ability to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, and walk throughout the yard as required.
Ability to maintain visual awareness of equipment, pedestrians, and vehicle traffic.
