Job summary

Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC seeks a Yard Hand to haul, block and launch boats and perform routine maintenance in a busy marina environment in Fort Lauderdale. You will operate heavy equipment, assist the Yard Foreman, and help keep the marina clean and safe.

Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma and have basic boat handling skills, with forklift experience considered a plus. Availability for overtime and variable conditions is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Heavy forklift experience a plus.
• Basic boat handling skills are a plus.
• Ability to ascend/descend a ladder and work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Haul, block and launch boats.
• Perform general boat maintenance and service work (waxing, bottom painting, zinc replacement).
• Work closely with the Yard Foreman and assist crewmembers as needed.
• Operate yard machinery including 75-Ton Travelift, 35-Ton hydraulic trailer, forklift, power washer.
• Grounds maintenance and marina cleanliness.
• Availability to work overtime when required.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Haul, block and launch boats
• Perform general boat maintenance and service work to include, but not limited to: waxing, bottom painting and zinc replacement

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
• Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Heavy forklift experience a plus
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Basic boat handling skills a plus
• Any skills considered standard that a Yard Hand should possess
