Responsibilities

• Acknowledge, greet, and assist customers in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide accurate fast in, fast out service for customers.
• Identify needs and provide appropriate level of assistance to customers.
• Resolve customer complaints and conflicts effectively.
• Communicate regularly with the Manager regarding inventory levels, employee progress, safety, procedures, and yard efficiency.
• Monitor daily activity of employees and delegate work as appropriate.
• Prepare and distribute work schedules.
• Assist with candidate selection and interview process for new hires.
• Motivate employees and manage performance and coaching.

Yard Foreman

Curtis Lumber is currently looking to immediately fill a Yard Foreman position with someone who possesses knowledge of Building Material Products and has a strong background in leadership.

Customer Service

• Acknowledge, greet, and assist customers in a timely and professional manner
• Provide accurate fast in, fast out service for customers
• Identify the needs and provide the appropriate level of assistance to the customer
• Effectively research and resolve customer complaints and conflicts

Communication

• Ensure that all reasonable directives from the Manager are carried out in a timely and accurate manner
• Communicate regularly with the Manager regarding inventory levels, employee progress, safety, procedures, and general yard efficiency

Leadership/Management

• Monitor employee’s daily activity and delegate or assign work as appropriate
• Prepare and distribute work schedules
• Challenge and develop employees’ performance, provide feedback, and hold direct reports accountable for their goals and job responsibilities
• Ensure timely, accurate review of weekly time record reports and employee expenses for payroll processing
• Assist with candidate selection and interview process for new hires
• Motivate employees and offer opportunity and reward appropriately
• Make recommendations to Manager regarding efforts to control employee turnover
• Make recommendations to Manager regarding employee performance for coaching, review, and disciplinary efforts

Sales Skills

Inventory and Merchandising

• Maintain a neat, clean yard appearance
• Practice good merchandising including set up and traffic flow
• Maintain inventory levels and notify appropriate person of out stocks

• Manage shrink by utilizing proper procedures for cull and damaged product
• Assist with physical inventory and cycle counts

Receiving

• Know and follow accepted receiving practices
• Prepare for and unload incoming product efficiently
• Effectively report receiving variances to the appropriate person
