Job summary

CRST The Transportation Solution, Inc. is seeking a Gate Clerk at our Cedar Rapids yard to manage the gate, verify credentials, and direct visitors and drivers. This role supports safe yard operations and requires alertness and punctuality.

The position offers an early shift with an alternating schedule, training periods, and a starting wage of $18.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Prior security or traffic-control experience is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Yard Entrance Control - Monitor the yard entrance gate to manage traffic entering and leaving the property, opening the gate to allow drivers access as needed
• Credential and Load Verification - Check credentials and Bills of Lading (BOLs)/load information before allowing anyone to enter the yard, ensuring proper security
• Issuance of Passes - Issue passes at your discretion or based on instructions from supervisors, maintaining safety and security protocols
• Direct Visitors and Drivers - Guide visitors and drivers to the correct areas of the yard and grounds
• Outgoing Traffic Inspection - Inspect outgoing vehicles to prevent the unauthorized removal of company loads, trailers, or products
• Track Traffic Movement - Keep track of the number of trucks and other carriers entering and leaving the yard for accurate record-keeping
• Communication Monitoring - Monitor company phones and 2-way radios to ensure smooth traffic flow across the yard
• Accountability & Reliability – Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs
