Job summary

RTX in the U.S. is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to serve as System Requirements & Engineering IPTL for the XTR-2 program. The role is onsite in Woburn, MA, leading a multi-discipline team and coordinating with leadership, SME’s and the customer.

The selected candidate will manage system architecture, requirements, interfaces, and verification planning while ensuring cost, schedule, and technical performance alignment with program standards and customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing project or program cost, schedule and risk; EVMS/Risk & Opportunity tools.
  • Experience with proposal or capture efforts.
  • Experience with technical and financial data and reporting.
  • Experience presenting program and technical issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

  • Owns system engineering scope for XTR-2.
  • Develops and maintains system-level requirements and flow-down to subsystems.
  • Leads system architecture, refinement, and configuration management including software architecture.
  • Ensures allocation of performance, functional, and interface requirements across subsystems.

The ASDS SBU Engineering Execution Team is looking for a Senior Principal Engineer to perform as the System Requirements & Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for the XTR-2 program. This position involves leading a team of multi-discipline engineers and providing technical oversight in developing system architecture, CONOPS, leading design reviews and delivering artifacts to the customer. It also includes responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical performance for the IPT scope. The selected candidate will work directly with Program leadership, Chief Engineers, other IPT Leads, subject matter experts, and the customer while executing Phase 1 of this multi-million-dollar contract. This is an onsite role located in Woburn, MA

What You Will Do
  • Owns all system engineering scope for XTR-2.
  • Develops, maintains, and controls system-level requirements, including flow-down to subsystem tech leads (GaN TRIMM, DREX, APCU, Pedestal Servo/Controller).
  • Leads system architecture, system concept refinement, and configuration management to include software architecture and life-cycle engineering activities.
  • Ensures allocation of performance, functional, and interface requirements across the four CDR-level subsystems.
  • Manages system level ICDs, requirement changes, and traceability (e.g., DOORS).
  • Owns system integration planning, including verification and validation strategy.
  • Leads system-level design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR inputs) and ensures readiness of subsystem artifacts.
  • Supports risk identification and mitigation related to system-level design and performance.
  • Ensures system engineering artifacts comply with XTR-2 program standards and customer expectations.
  • Coordinates with corresponding IPTs to align system-level requirements, interfaces, and SE deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience managing project or program cost, schedule and risk or experience with Earned Value Management, Risk & Opportunity, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) or Integrated Master Plan (IMP) tools.
  • Experience with proposal or capture efforts.
  • Experience with technical and financial data and reporting.
  • Experience presenting program and technical issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Relocation Eligibility.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
