Barnabas Health Medical Group in New Jersey is seeking an X-ray Technician for a multispecialty practice. The role performs diagnostic radiography, coordinates film readings with physicians, and prepares patients for evaluations.

Responsibilities include maintaining patient confidentiality, arranging equipment, and communicating with patients and insurers. License requirements include ARRT, NJ state license, and a high school diploma; CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year experience in an x-ray department in a hospital or physician’s office.
• 1-3 years experience performing diagnostic radiography.
• ARRT certification and NJ state license.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• CPR certification per AHA.

Responsibilities

• Assist physician with evaluation and treatment of patients.
• Assist physician with special procedures.
• Coordinate reading of x-ray films with physician.
• Maintain patient communication with insurance companies.
• Log and file x-ray film records accurately.
• Perform basic clerical tasks (photocopying, scanning, faxing).
• Oversee production of x-ray images.
• Prepare patients for physician evaluation.
• Explain lab/test preparation to patients.
• Keep examining rooms clean and organized.
• Represent clinic professionally in person/phone/written form.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Take patient histories and record vital signs to aid diagnosis.

Requirements

• 1. High School Diploma or GED required
• 2. Minimum one year experience in an x-ray department in a hospital or physician’s office
• 3. 1-3 experience as an x-ray technician performing diagnostic radiography
• 4. Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license and New Jersey state license
• 5. Knowledge of medical terminology
• 6. Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook is required
• 7. CPR Certification approved by AHA

Essential Functions

• Assists physician with evaluation and treatment of patient
• Assists physician with special procedures
• Coordinates the reading of all x-ray films with physician
• Initiating and maintaining correspondence with patients and insurance companies
• Maintains accurate record of all x-ray films to include appropriate log entries, x-ray documentation for jackets and accurate filing of films
• Performs basic functions such as photocopying, scanning and faxing
• Performs basic radiologist tests and oversees the production of x-rays
• Prepares patients for physician evaluation
• Relays information to patients regarding preparation of laboratory tests and examinations
• Arranges examining room instruments and equipment and keeps the examining rooms neat and clean
• Represents the clinic in a professional manner in person, in telephone conversations, and in written correspondence
• Respects and maintains privacy and dignity of patients and assures patient confidentiality at all times
• Takes patients’ medical history, information pertaining to the patients’ visit to the doctor and record vital signs of patients to help the doctor with diagnosis
