The Barnabas Health Medical Group seeks an Xray Technician for its multispecialty practice. Duties vary by site; the technician assists physicians, performs diagnostic radiography, and coordinates film readings with doctors.

Strong documentation, patient communication, and confidentiality are essential at all times. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ARRT and NJ licenses, 1–3 years of radiology experience, CPR certification, and proficiency with Word/Outlook.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience in an x-ray department in a hospital or physician’s office.
• 1-3 years experience as an x-ray technician performing diagnostic radiography.
• ARRT license and New Jersey state license.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• CPR certification per AHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assists physician with evaluation and treatment of a patient.
• Assists with special procedures and coordinates reading of x-ray films with physician.
• Maintains patient communications with insurance companies and logs x-ray documentation.
• Performs basic radiologist tests and oversees x-ray production.
• Prepares patients for physician evaluation and explains preparation of tests.
• Keeps examining rooms neat and professional in appearance.

Requirements

• 1. High School Diploma or GED required
• 2. Minimum one year experience in an x-ray department in a hospital or physician’s office
• 3. 1-3 experience as an x-ray technician performing diagnostic radiography
• 4. Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license and New Jersey state license
• 5. Knowledge of medical terminology
• 6. Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook is required
• 7. CPR Certification approved by AHA

Essential Functions

• Assists physician with evaluation and treatment of patient
• Assists physician with special procedures
• Coordinates the reading of all x-ray films with physician
• Initiating and maintaining correspondence with patients and insurance companies
• Maintains accurate record of all x-ray films to include appropriate log entries, x-ray documentation for jackets and accurate filing of films
• Performs basic functions such as photocopying, scanning and faxing
• Performs basic radiologist tests and oversees the production of x-rays
• Prepares patients for physician evaluation
• Relays information to patients regarding preparation of laboratory tests and examinations
• Arranges examining room instruments and equipment and keeps the examining rooms neat and clean
• Represents the clinic in a professional manner in person, in telephone conversations, and in written correspondence
• Respects and maintains privacy and dignity of patients and assures patient confidentiality at all times
• Takes patients’ medical history, information pertaining to the patients’ visit to the doctor and record vital signs of patients to help the doctor with diagnosis
