Job summary

Google XR is seeking a Senior Lead Manufacturing Engineer to own manufacturing strategies for head-worn devices from design through mass production in San Jose, CA. You will lead cross-functional teams, partner with ODMs, and drive DFM/ DFA across the Android XR ecosystem.

The role requires deep technical expertise, strong decision making, and the ability to influence stakeholders to achieve scalable hardware manufacturing outcomes. Excellent communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience in consumer electronics space.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cross-functional effort on the definition, development and qualification of manufacturing strategies/solutions for head-worn devices through all NPI phases to high volume manufacturing.
• Partner with manufacturing technology partners in architecture, design and qualification of manufacturing processes/equipment for product enablement, design and process verification for mass production.
• Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) from NTI to prototype to mass production with internal and external partners and contract manufacturers.
• Evaluate and develop prospective vendors (ODMs, module integrators, component supply chain) for process and quality capabilities.
• Develop and standardize the DFA/DFM processes across the Android XR ecosystem.
